You will then be weighed twice to ensure that the correct bungee rope is used for your jump. Next it is time for you to get into the harness and have the ankle straps attached. This one day intro to Hang Gliding is a fantastic way for you to get a taste of this extreme but serene sport! You will have a fun day during which you will be introduced to the equipment and the principles of hang gliding and will have a go at all sorts of things such as ground control launching and take off! The centre uses a winch which ensures that you will be able to progress much faster than you would on a hill. This is a great day and if you decide to continue with your training to become a qualified hang glider this counts as the first day of your EPC course. You can soar with the birds!Course Content : You will start your day by meeting your instructor at the centre before learning some theory on how a glider flies having a safety briefing and being introduced to the equipment which includes the glider harness and helmet. You will then work on a simulator to get a feel for how a glider flies. You will learn how to rig and de-rig a glider before doing some short runs with the glider; your feet will be on on the ground but the glider will be catching air and you will be starting to learn how to handle a glider. The fun really starts when you are attached to the winch - the winch is at one end of the airfield and you & your glider at the other; the speed the winch pulls you at determines how high & fast you fly. You will start off being pulled for some short hops and as your skill and confidence builds you will progress to longer flights. By the end of this great day you can expect to be doing short flights where you will be 15 - 20ft in the air. Please note: Progress is dependent on the individual student and wind strength. Almost riders rely on resin boards for unmatched quality and so can you. Almost resin boards don't warp. The Almost Daewon Girl Deck is a Resin-8 board which is lighter and stronger than the standard 7-ply. Resin-8 decks are constructed with epoxy. Epoxy is stronger than the normal water base glue (the industry standard). Since epoxy is so strong less of it is used yielding a considerably lighter stronger and stiffer deck which keeps its pop longer.
