The new Genelec 7050B LSE? subwoofer provides perfect partner to the 8020A for both stereo and surround sound applications. The 7050B extends the LF response down to 25 Hz with amazing bass articulation. This is made possible in such a compact enclosure thanks to Genelecs patented Laminar Spiral Enclosure (LSE?) technology. With 5 main input channels and an LFE channel with 85/120 Hz reproduction bandwidth selection the 8020A/7050B system fulfills the needs of 5.1 productions. You can also use the 7050B to complement the 8030A monitor. The 7050B is designed to complement Genelecs 8020A active monitors in stereo and surround applications and the 8030A in stereo only setup. The subwoofer features a single 8" (205mm) proprietary driver with a 70 Watt power amplifier. It has a frequency response from 25 Hz - 85 Hz (± 3dB) and the ability to deliver short term sine wave of 100 dB SPL in half space at 1 metre. Like all Genelec LSE? active subwoofers the 7050B also features extremely low distortion. The amplifier unit which is integrated into the cabinet consists of the active crossover filter driver overload protection circuits and a power amplifier. Two input connectors and adjustable sensitivity provide easy connection and adaptability to different acoustical conditions. The Genelec Laminar Spiral Enclosure? (LSE?) bass reflex cabinet is made of a sheet metal rolled into a spiral shape and clamped between thick MDF side panels. This new construction technique provides excellent laminar flow characteristics with minimal turbulence noise and enables an optimal packing of a very long reflex tube into a small space.

This enclosure employs aluminum cold plates to transmit excess heat from the drive to the PC chassis ensuring that overheating does not occur. Not suitable for SCSI drives.A high proportion of noise created by PCs comes from the hard drive(s). This is because the magnetic platters in the hard drive spin constantly at high speed. In addition the heads moving back and forth across the platters cause "clicking" noises every time files are accessed by the operating system.Much research and development has been done by drive manufacturers in recent years to try to make hard drives quieter but despite this the noise most drives make is still very noticeable and distracting even when using hard drives which are specifically marketed as being supposedly "quiet". The obvious solution is to enclose the drive in an acoustic sleeve and this is how SilentDrive? works.However the typical problem associated with acoustic enclosures is cooling - excessive heat is not healthy for a hard drive. Because the heat generated by a drive is related to the spindle speed most drives with a spindle speed of 7200 rpm (revolutions per minute) or less are compatible. Generally speaking if your drive runs at 10000 or 15000 rpm then unfortunately it will run too hot to be enclosed.
